Since July 2015, schools have a legal responsibility to “have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 covers a broad range of radicalisation, not just Islamic extremism but also the far right. As part of our Safeguarding duty we need to prevent young people from being drawn into any kind of terrorist activity.
At SS Peter and Paul our strategic Prevent Lead is the Headteacher - Carol Burns. If you are concerned about your child or another child becoming radicalised please contact the school.
To reduce the threat of radicalisation we celebrate difference and embrace other cultures and religions and we teach children about British Values. Children are taught to explore and discuss differences of opinion in a safe environment.
