Art Intent

Art enables children to use their imagination to express their ideas. Our art curriculum strives to develop creativity; to challenge, inspire and engage children by providing them with the knowledge and skills to investigate, experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Children will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of media and materials to develop their skills and techniques in Art and Design.  These include the use of paint, pastel, charcoal, textile and clay.  We encourage children to express themselves creatively in both 2D and 3D, indoors and outdoors. Children will have the opportunity to study the work of artists, considering how a piece was made and their response to it whilst having time to discuss and evaluate their own work and that of their peers.  Children’s artwork is valued and displayed prominently throughout the school.
