Pupil Premium 2018-19
The Pupil Premium Grant is an additional amount of funding given to schools to support the learning and progress of those pupils identified as fulfilling particular criteria. It is allocated according to a precise formula. For detailed information about this please go to the Dfe website:
The school Governors, the Headteacher and Senior Staff decide how best to deploy the Pupil Premium Grant following our annual “needs analysis” which identifies priority groups and individuals requiring support and/or intervention in order to narrow attainment gaps and/or extend challenge.
Barriers to learning:
At SS Peter & Paul the grant was used to fund a range of help/resources to facilitate the learning of pupils for whom the Pupil Premium provides support. The funds are used to enable the children to overcome the following barriers to learning:
Poor Attendance - Attendance at Breakfast club ensures that the child is in school at the start of the day and has eaten breakfast
Lack of Uniform -Supplying items of clothing helps a child to conform to the school's uniform policy
Lack of Homework - Supporting children to complete homework tasks to ensure they don't fall behind
Lacking Confidence - emotionally and academically can be supported in a number of ways these included:
- Small group work
- 1-1 tuition support
- Additional teaching and learning opportunities provided through mentors, trained LSAs or external agencies.
- Classroom equipment
- ICT Software packages
Ensuring equality of provision- providing places on school trips and residential courses to ensure that the child can attend
Such targeted and strategic use of the Pupil Premium Grant (along with other resources) enables us to improve the progress and attainment of the identified children in the subject areas of reading, writing and mathematics, so that most of them achieve at least in line with their peers and meet expected rates of progress at ages 7 and 11.
Teacher Assessments and SATs at the end of Term 6 2018 showed pupils achievement, including those for whom the Pupil Premium Grant provided additional support.
